New pet rat, but has she got mites? And more ratty questions

Sorry for the slow reply, and thank you all once again!
Her name is Bindi, because she has the most beautiful Bindi spot
I took her to the vets yesterday, and she had a drop on the back of her neck for mites- just in case it is that. She'll have to have another drop in 2 weeks. I've also disinfected her cage out.
With regards to getting her a friend- I've been told that she has been kept in a mixed sex cage, so there is a strong possibility that we could be hearing the pitter patter of tiny paws within the next 2 weeks. If she does have littlies, I'm going to keep a female.
If not, then she is going to be so well cared for anyway- and out most of the time. She loves to lounge around my neck already, but her favourite hiding place is squished between my boobs- she'll sleep there for ages :p"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye."...Miss piggy0 -

I don't know about mites or pet insurance but you might ask around at some local vets about rat pricing. I've had some vet charge normal prices and some discount prices for small pets. I've even had one charge nothing for a 2am Sunday morning emergency callout.
Oh and don't wear just socks on you feet around rats.

Hi,
haven't really posted much so i hope this is in the right place. I came across a nice rat website on Piczo, they make handmade hammocks tunnels etc. I have ordered a few and they are quite cheap and really nice. Plus they do you deals if you buy more than one.
