Visiting Bath, London, Stonehenge end of August

You can 'see' Stonehenge from the road but I don't think it's quite the same as getting up close. I've driven past it loads of times and still love it it's beautiful!
What about Glastonbury Tor and abbey?
Stourhead (walks around the extensive grounds are free, including Alfred's tower which is wonderful)
Longleat estate has a few areas you can walk around for free although obviously not the safari park etc.
Lots of cute little towns like Wells (or is it the smallest city?), frome, bathampton, Bradford on Avon all not far from bath if you just want a nice day out, see somewhere different.
Bath is still pretty to walk around even if not doing the baths.
London is approx 2.5hrs drive (probably more depends on traffic and where you go in london) from bath so take into account fuel/time costs of driving in one day.
Have a good holiday whatever you decide!0 -
Have you considered Bristol?
Another historical city with loads to see & do for free - see visitbristol.co.uk
You can even download free mp3 audio tours on different subjects etc0
