in Credit cards
Apologies this may seem like a daft question but want to get it right.....
I'm applying for a credit card and I don't have a high income but I am married and share a bank account with my husband and have full access to all monies. Can I include joint income as a salary on the credit card application? Desperately need a 0% balance/purchase deal and this is the only way we'll get it. He can't apply himself due to being on a DRO but intend on having him on as secondary card holder.
I'm new to this and aware it could be a silly question 😄

It depends on which card you are applying for. Some allow household income, some don't.0

If it states household income then yes you can otherwise only your income0

Barclaycard will let you count benefits in your name (or joint name) as income...I work a few hours a week and my partner full time. I was applying as I was more likely to get the card than him. I phoned Barclaycard to see if we could include joint income or not and they said no, but any benefits would count as my income as they had my name on them. We get joint Tax Credits and the Child Benefit is in my name, so I included both of those as well as my earnings.
You'll have to phone each company to see what their policy is. Some will use joint income, some will include benefits, some won't include either.Debt FREE thanks to YNAB0 -
......share a bank account with my husband.......being on a DRO .

Having a joint bank account, means you are 'financially linked' to your husband. So his credit history will be taken into account and with him being on a DRO, the chances that (the two of) you will get a 0% deal (or even any CC) are very remote.0 -
Benefits will only count if they are a permanent award, i.e. for life. That was my experience with the former Abbey National, NWide and TSB. However, we have had an excellent credit rating since a problem in 1997 was sorted by Experian, so I may be wrong in your case.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
