There is tape sold in car accessory shops that seem to be made for the job, could be worth a look and ask the shopkeeper, and also ring one or two testing stations and ask them as to the legality of this tape, will also depend on hole size, I know you said about size of a 5p peice but the testing stations will give you the correct info.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Right i took a change today & took it to a mot testing centre a friend recommended... the rear lightwas not even mentioned BUT
1.Front Exhaust system has part of the system exsessivly deterioated
2.exhaust emmisionslambda reading failed after 2nd fast idle test
3. rear exhaust system has a major leak of exhaust gases
4.both rear tyres thread is below requirments
& The Worst
5. rear vehicle structure has excessive corrosion , seriosly affecting its strength withing 30cm of the body mountings
i am planning on getting a quote from the MOT centre to fix all these items but hell ive only had the Renault Megane 1996 for 5 weeks , i wasnt expecting such major problems
Anyway can anyone give me some much needed advise please
Thanks -0 -
Xtreme - where did you buy the car? If it was a garage you may have a claim against them as a car sold should not have such major problems. If it was private did you get an inspection done - this should have picked up a lot (if not all) of these.
If you need to replace any bits ask the garage if you can source your own parts for them to fit (usually works out cheaper and you may get an exhaust system at a local scrapyard). If the light unit becomes a problem try the scrappy again (prob about £5)
A lot of cars pass the lambda emissions test if you get a petrol additive from Halfords (or other leading motor stores) and run the car up the motorway and back.
Hope this helps any,
Good Luck S_C0 -
