I've experimented with many things over the years, including sugary water. In my experience orange juice, coca cola/Fanta and rotting fruit are favourite, all the older the better.
These are they types of traps I make. I've never don't anything to deter bees but never trap any. I think they are just smarter than wasps.

Thanks, but I think we need more extreme measuresThere are so many of them, it is definitely a nest (or two!)

Two separate wasp nests just 1 meter apart would be unusual."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

So do you think that it is likely to be one MASSIVE one, or just that they are getting to the nest via 2 different points, regardless of the size of the nest? Thanks0 -
Are you sure he can't see the nests in the loft, they are likely to be very close to the ingress points.
One in the garden are easy - a swift puff of wasp nest killer in the evening as they return blows the powder all around the entrance and the returning wasps take it into the nest. Next day, almost nothing, job done.
But the key is to puff the powder and get the hell out. I wouldn't dream of doing that on top of a ladder.
I only ever killed wasp nests when we had kids around, I leave them to get on with their business now and they leave me to get on with mine. They'll be gone in a couple of months and, as has already been said, they don't reuse old nests. As you haven't had any in your bedroom windows so far, I see no reason to believe they'll bother in future.0 -
I was £60 last year to get wasps in nest killed. I am terrified of them but they were gone in less thaxn 24 hours, never to be seen again. Best £60 i ever spent. From memory, additional nests were dealt with at a reduced rate.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

We have exactly as you do, a wasp nest behind the soffits they come in and out of it from a few points along a metre or so. I was going to leave them to die off in Winter but we are having work done outside in October and that's the month they are most 'stingy' due to lack of food and such. So, we are getting the council or a contractor in to deal with them. If you attempt it yourself and they swarm, it could be extremely nasty for you! If you want of the wasps gone, pay and get it done by a contractor or the council, that's the best advice I have.0

The 1st thing to make sure is that they are defiantly wasps & not something like honey beesI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Final update:
We found yet another nest lower down in an air brick, which we treated easily ourselves.
However, the ones in the fascias were very difficult to access and treat - the spray had no effect and it was too difficult to get the powder into the access point, so we called in a pro to do it - worked with immediate effect.0 -
I was amazed at how well dusting worked. We had a next which the wasps flew under our front door to access. Sprayed a few which had limited effect, then read online somewhere that washing up liquid worked so put some of that down near the entrance and came home to find loads of dead wasps. Unfortunately because I wasn't treating the nest they came back with a vengeance. I dusted the area under the front door one and I have not seen any since so all in a good result! Some people don't exaggerate........... They just remember big!0
