Two lots of work to front of house - scaffolding?

Hi,

I need two different lots of work doing to the front of my terraced house. I have been trying for a few weeks to get quotes for gutter repair.

I have finally got some and think I've found the right tradesman for me. The job is specialist and the cost is £2076 inc. VAT which is roughly what I expected.

A good proportion of the cost is for scaffolding - £732 inc. VAT. The other work I need doing is total repointing. My question is - can you get tradespeople to 'share' scaffolding?

i.e. Is it possible to get the scaffolding set up as such to allow both works to be carried out? Is most of the cost in the initial setup and dismantling of the scaffolding?

Just wondering as I assume if I get someone to repoint at a later date I'd be looking at paying out another £600-£700 unless they had their own?

Thank you in advance..

Have you asked the gutter repair person if they'd do the other work too?

As a tradesperson I wouldn't use equipment provided by someone else. I'm sure there are insurance considerations, timing, on/off-hire etc. If YOU arranged the scaffolding, got it set up and told both trades that it would be there for x weeks, they may consider it.

You hire the scaffolding for a set time span. Just arrange both jobs to be done in that time. If the guy doing the guttering is supplying the scaffolding and does not agree hire it separately.

We had our scaffolding up for all trades ie complete new roof including the trusses and brickwork for the extension. It was up for months and we had to ask them to take it away. We had the scaffolding done ourselves separate from the trades.

I suspect you'll need the deck boards at different heights for the two jobs, won't you?

Unless you can organise both jobs & the scaffolding co together, I think you might as well have them done separately.
