Flooringsupplies.co.uk

I bought wood flooring underlay from Flooring supplies.co.uk. On their website they market it as Natura Gold underlay. On receiving them I discovered it is in fact Novostrat Gold underlay which is available for sale everywhere else for half the price. When I spoke to customer services I was told they have permission from Novostrat to call it Natura underlay and presumably sell it to the unsuspecting public at twice the price. He then said that the full description is available on their website, so he didn't really care.. Do not buy Natura Gold Underlay from them. Buy it elsewhere at half the price as its Novostrat Gold underlay. They are cheating you.

I can't see a problem with that. Other people seem to be using that name too
  • No its Novostrat Gold Underlay but on their website they call it Natura Gold Underlay. If I had know they were just calling it something else I wouldn't have bought from them.

Yes. Other sellers are selling natura gold underlay. What's in a name?

Melissa ... company reps need MSE permission to post here on behalf of their companies.

It's in the rules you acknowledged reading when you just signed up.

    Hi Tigger

I just wanted to clarify the points you have raised.

To explain, the cheaper underlay you are seeing on other websites is called Novostrat Comfort Gold.

Novostrat Comfort Gold is a budget underlay manufactured to a density of 30-35kg/m3. Our Natura Gold underlay is manufactured to a density of 65kg/m3 with high compressive and recovery strength.

There are other differences between the 2 products which I have included below.

    Novostrat Comfort

    Approx. Density ρ (kg/m3) 30 Approx.
    PE Foam Roll Weight(g/m2) 178.16g
    Thermal Conductivity λ ( W/mK) 0.043
    Sound Reduction(dB) >21dB

    Natura Gold

    Approx. Density ρ (kg/m3) 65
Approx. PE Foam Roll Weight(g/m2) 353.16g
    Thermal Conductivity λ ( W/mK) 0.048
    Sound Reduction(dB) >24dB

We regularly price check and I can confirm you would not be able to purchase this specification of underlay at drastically cheaper prices.

I am sorry you feel cheated by this and we will look at the product description to ensure we make it as clear as possible for customers that our Natura Gold underlay is different to the inferior Novostrat comfort Gold.

  • I also just bought Natura Sonic Gold underlay from Flooring Supplies because we have used it before and been really happy with it, only to receive it and it saying Novostrat on it, which is available at much cheaper prices elsewhere

The company have not changed the description as suggested here, and the spec appears to be the same elsewhere, although I was led to believe it was a superior product. I will complain to Flooring supplies
