Hi,
Barclays are expensive, and I would like to get a better rate.
CurrencyFair are unable to do this. They can only transfer USD to a US based account. They can't transfer USD into a UK USD account
Has anyone got any tips for this? I'll just close down my Barclays USD account if its not possible!
Cheers,
William

Keep trying, all the brokers, beginning with TransferWise. I seem to remember someone saying it's possible but not the details. Let us know if you succeed...Evolution, not revolution0

We used TorFx when we gave DS money for a deposit. This was a transfer to the USA, though.
I was so nervous, but the guy was very helpful and kept me informed at each stage. It npmight be worth asking them..
To add: I used them on the recommendation of Neilbond007, who moved to the States himself.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

If you're prepared to close down you Barclays USD account what benefit is there to you in keeping it open at all?0

If the amounts are not huge you can avoid the charges and lousy exchange rates of Barclays or any bank by using Revolut:
