Car Insurance - Two Policies, Two Cars (No Claims Discount) ???

I have car insurance with my ex. I had a policy with her as the named driver, and she has a policy with me as the named driver.
We swapped cars so the policies are the wrong way around now.
Is there a problem in just taking out new policies elsewhere set up correctly and letting the existing ones lapse, or must they be cancelled ?
I wasn't sure how the no claims allowance works and whether a policy has to be cancelled first in order to use it ?
Thanks in advance

Your no claims are in use on the current policies so your new insurance will have zer no claims and you will be paying to insure the same car twice. why?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

We don't want to pay twice but as the policies cover the main and named drivers incorrectly this needs to be changed. One is due to expire next week, the other next month.
It looks like in order to make use of the no claims discount we must cancel the existing policies first.
It doesn't help that my ex has crashed the car and there is an ongoing claim that is affecting MY no claims.0 -
If a claim has been made the full premium maybe due and cancellation fees also?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
