Content Insurance: Unspecified items, specified items, listed items etc

Hi all

Slightly confused on contents insurance and wondered if someone could explain...

My quote is for £50,000 contents insurance and I have specified 8 individual items over £1,500 (wedding ring, original artwork etc) some are at home others home & away. There are then 4 further questions;

• Value of other unspecified items
• Value of the most expensive item
• Value of unspecified valuables
• Value of the most expensive item

What are classed as unspecified items and aren't they "wrapped up" in the £50k cover?

What are specified items and aren't they "wrapped up" in the 8 items I've already specified (wedding ring, artwork etc)?

Basically I am after £50k cover in additional to the specified 8 items.

Confused doesn't describe my pickled head right now.

Some companies have a percentage rule within general contents that unspecified values can't exceed say 25% of the overall contents amount.

So at 50K this means you could only have 12.5K of that 50K as unspecified valuables.

By checking your unspecified valuables their making sure you won't exceed any limits they have in place
