You will know about a letter before court action if you get one!

It will clearly indicate that if you don't pay within x days legal action will be taken

The bold word is key ... if any letter says May, Recommend or some similar woolly phrase then it's just a debt collector letter to be ignored.

Bear in mind you only get a CCJ that affects your credit record:

IF the PPC instigates a small claim, AND
IF it gets to a hearing, AND
IF you don't defend, or put in a poor defence, so lose the case, AND
IF you don't pay the judgment within the proscribed time frame.

Lots of IFs there, and ALL those steps need to happen.

So I guess the question we're all asking is ... at what point would you actually know they are truly taking legal action? and by that point is it too late to just call and make a payment or would you actually have to attend court?

You can make payment right up to point of entering the court's doors. That's if you become Smart Parking's very first court case. Be afraid, be very afraid .....

Nearing half a million tickets in little over 18 months - and not one single, miserable court case!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Ignored it, as per all the advise

That was not the advice in 2015 - and has not been since 2012.

Not reading current threads was the source of your confusion.
