Royal Mail screwed up - do I have any right to be compensated?

I got to it by: £20 for the item I am missing, and £30 for the time and inconvenience of having to go and re-open my bank account, and for having my bank account frozen.
I pay RM for a hell of a lot actually, but that's beside the point. The bank and the sender of the goods haven't actually lost out on anything. I have. That's why I was asking my question.
I've already mentioned you should claim anything off your bank as it's their responsibility to you (their customer), so that's £30 taken care of.
The item that's missing, again that's a contract between you and the seller and the seller who should pay you the £20 (if it's over ebay there is quite clear procedures in place on following this through). It is down to the seller/sender to claim the £20 off of Royal Mail. It has nothing to do with you. If you were going to sue for the lost item, it's the seller you'd take to court not RM. Again it is the seller's responsibility to get the item to you. You have no contract at all with RM."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

as said get intouch with your delivery office,do you live in a flat?.could be a reasonable explanation.
eg i do my regular duty but often get pulled from it to cover other duties as needs be.
i deliver to flats and get 100's of wrongly addressed letters but know where people live.of course someone new to the duty doesnt so can only go as addressed.if these are returned as gone away and i get them i may think the people are gone away(but generally check by redelivering them) or the new postie will return them.
as for compensation then forget it.just get the problem fixed0
