Payroll software recommendations

IRIS have put up the price of our payroll licence yet again; I think it's three years in a row when they've put it up by 15%. Last year I complained and they told me the extra costs were due to auto-enrolment, only the software doesn't do a single AE task unless you buy the additional "AE Suite"

So does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative that:
  • is affordable
  • can import mid-year data from IRIS
  • isn't run buy money-grabbing liars

Moneysoft and 12Pay are the 2 that colleagues always recommend. I think they both do trials too so you can test them out.

    Moneysoft!

Cheap and does what it says on the tin. No gimmicks nor fancy graphics but it does the job.

We've loads of clients who use it and use it in house for a payroll bureau for dozens of employers.
  • Calcpay - available as a free download to try, and I'm sure that they will be able to tell you immediately about whether transfer from IRIS is straightforward!

I agree with this. I have used it for years and am very happy with it.

I've read that it isn't the best as far as AE goes, but I only use it for 2 small companies and so I am happy to do AE manually.

Brightpay is a wonderful piece of software. It handles your requirements.

Depends on how many people you have on the payroll. I like using Sage however I do outsource mine to our accountants, they charge me just £15 per month for 8 employees and they have the software already!
