    Who " frowns" on it?

There is no reason why 2 or more policies can't be taken out - the policyholder pays the multiple premiums in full, but the insurers may only have to pay a proportion of any claims

Insurers. Do you really think if you were to disclose that you had another policy on the exact same car they would be over the moon about it? Contribution claims aren't particularly as straight forward as they sound and I'm sure insurers would rather avoid this where possible.

Unless it's very short term whilst you are switching from one insurer to the other, I don't see why anyone would want to do it anyway.
  • From my understanding, if I needed to claim, I'd have to pay for 2 excesses and they would more likely split the repair/claim. Having 2 policy's doesn't benifit anyone but the insurance company's as it is less risk.

It's just bad practise as can complicate matters , it's unnessacary and more expensive to the customer.

Still can't cancel the second policy... Going to call later today. The delay affects my refund, longer the delay the longer I wait for my money. Still not my problem though it is a little nit picky. I've had 3 insurance policy's this month so I could do with the refund as I've paid out about £400 this month just on a pay monthly insurance package. New policy admiral is only costing £70 per month.

Still haven't a clue what's been going on exactly.

If you've instructed them to cancel the policy and it's their problem as to why it can't be processed, I would imagine they would honour the cancellation/refund from the date you instructed them.
