OpenBox & Gift Code

Hey,
I want to buy a OpenBox and a gift code but i'm not sure if I have the right set up for one.
I am currently on Virgin Media, and have a Virgin Media box install in my bedroom, so I have all the necessary equipment to receive virgin channels.
However, I believe you need a sky dish installed for an OpenBox, which I don't have.
If I am right, is there any alternatives boxes out there I can connect using my virgin media set-up?
The box must be able to take gift codes.

Thanks for your reply.
Would you happen to know of any other boxes that don't require a dish? I currently have virgin media so I only have a cable.
