Gas & electricity estimates

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could please give me some advice or point me in the direction of a website where I could find out how much our energy usage in a student house should have cost from our meter readings? Our 'bill sharing' company (Glide) we used are trying to seek an additional £2000 from us which does not seem right, this was from September 1st 2014 until June 30th 2015.

Meter readings on September 1st
Gas – 1795
Electricity – 37595

Final meter readings on June 30th
Gas - 5933
Electric - 41755

This is for a relatively small house with 4 tenants (technically 3 as I moved out after a month). This is the only information I have as another housemate was dealing with this at the time. Glide suggest the total electricity and gas usage for the household during our tenancy totalled £3560, I just wondered if looking at these figures this seems correct?

Thank you in advance, hope this makes sense.

You're going to need to know what rate your pay for your gas and electric.

My very rough calculations show a gas cost of around 2500quid and electric cost of around 500quid.

I have never heard of glide, but im sure they dont do things for free, but 500quid to 'share a bill'?

Rip off tariff, is there a more expensive one? - see here but it's a bit late to question the rates now!

Wow you're not wrong, those tarrifs are ridiculous, 60p+ a day standing rate and cheapest electric tarrif of 15.24pkwh.

These guys must prey on the students who like to combine everything.
Princess, get out of that quickly.

Other suppliers, such as bg, standing charge of 24p per day and a tarrif od 12pkwh

It really is regressing into the Middle Ages.

I see another money making scheme appearing: FREE RANGE old folks homes.

You build a barn with stables. The residents can go out into the fields to get some sun, and come back to sleep on the straw. Incontinence is fine, as we just change the straw.

To get round the minimum wage, we use volunteer labour from the residents, who get reductions in home fees. Obviously we charge a very reasonable rate to local councils who want to discharge their responsibility at a favourable rate.

Each chicken, or resident, gets a minimum amount of space to roam in, naturally. They get fed, naturally.
