Galaxy A3 2016 - on three uk

Hi
I have a contract with three and have a a3 2016 phone.
I've noticed I don't receive text messages that are longer than 1 text message (160 chars) from my friends on o2.
I called three CS and they suggested I do a factory reset which I did and then one friend on o2 sent me a long text and i received it fine, then any further texts are not being received again while short texts are ok.
I can send myself long messages without issue so I am thinking its and o2 -> 3 thing, anyone else had this issue and if so how was it resolved?
