in IVA & DRO
Hi folks,
I have recently found out that my expartner is in the process of taking out a DRO against a joint loan we had, now I have been making payments to this loan but now they have stopped all credits to the account because of this DRO, natwest advised me that this will make me fully liable for the loan , they have said I can make payments to a secondary account whilst his DRO is being processed...does this sound right? Its the last of the debts i have after our nightmare relationship I have paid thousands out already...so just cautious i suppose
Thanks in advance

Hi
It’s true that you will be solely liable for the loan payments now. I haven’t heard of payments having to be made into a secondary account before so I’m not sure whether it’s standard practice or just Natwest’s policy.
Either way, as long as you keep making the contractual payments to Natwest on time to wherever they instruct you, I don’t see why it would be an issue. Keep a record of any correspondence and the payments you make just in case.

If your ex is still 'in the process of' getting a DRO, this doesn't make sense at all. Until the DRO is granted, nothing has changed. Do they appear on the register?

OK that makes sense - in fact they've been slow to deal with the account
Your ex is in the middle of his DRO moratorium and the account is frozen.
You can make payments to a secondary account while the loan is frozen. He is not allowed to make any payments
Technically he is still liable but can have no action taken against him. If he gets through the 12-month moratorium then you alone are liable.0
