Floorboards ...

Have just bought a house and taking up the carpets has revealed some nice floorboards - although they need sanding.

I'd originally intended putting down some decent quality laminate in some of the rooms or some engineered wood, but it seems silly to put fake stuff down over the real thing.

Has anyone kept their floorboards and can advise whether they are cold/noisier than laminate?

You will need to expose the entire floor (if you haven't already) and if it is sound, level and little damage on it then it will need sanding and sealing to stop drafts. I never noticed too much of a difference between floorboards and laminated flooring except it was quieter to have floorboards and it took more work to get the result.
