Thanks for your comments. The pickup would be over 3.5 tonnes when it has a car on top of it which it often does.

I think I confused you about the police, I haven't phoned them yet, the council told me to contact them and then decided it was building/planning I needed.

Bellway built the homes and they aren't developing on the Estate anymore so looks like that might be a dead end.

Interesting about it not being an offence to park on the footpath... If they are completely blocking it though I assume that is an offence, which they are. I have seen mothers with pushchairs have to use the road as they block the path.

I lived on a Bellway Development a few years ago and we had the same restriction.

Contact the management company. They should be able to help. I thought it was a housing association estate going by the terminology you used earlier. (Describing it as an estate)

Let's not forget that everybody with a road-legal vehicle is perfectly entitled to park it anywhere, so long as no obstruction is caused, and no parking restrictions are breached.

    Not true.

There is no legal right whatsoever to park a vehicle on a public road, even in the absence of any stated restrictions.

Also you should reverse onto your driveway and then drive out onto the main road. This will make it a lot safer and easier to see any vehicles especially if your view is blocked!.

As above a 2ton transit pickup could carry a large 1.5ton estate car and not be over the limit.

The driver would need to be careful on what he picks up but quite possibly under the 3.5ton limit.

Parking exemptions on a lease are usually whilst they build the houses so it looks like a nice area when they sell the next one. One the work is complete and all sold up they usually take no interest.

Recently at the end of my street there are cars parking at both sides right up to the junction. You can't see what's coming both directions when you are trying to leave the street and they park opposite too turning the road into a single lane. It's been gradually getting worse over the years but now it's at the worst it can get.

Nice story, start your own thread though

If it has a plated MGW of 3500Kg and you know for a fact it is over then the Police would be interested if it is on the road ;)

However, it would be a daft vehicle recovery conversion that puts it overweight with a car on the back :rotfl:

For purposes of the restriction on parking it is the plated MGW that counts, empty or loaded, otherwise you could park an empty 7.5 tonner if it's unladen weight is below 3.5 tonnes.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

If the pavement is blocked and as you said someone with a pram had to walk on the road surely that's a police matter?
Take a picture if you can.
Already said it is illegal to drive on the pavement but ok to park but in this case I would phone the police.

You shouldn't stoop to the level of others.

    Just ignore them.
