Should Asda take responsibility?

Bought Asda's Interdental Brushes a few months ago. Started using them only to notice that most in the pack had no or very few actual brushes. I had been using just wire on my gums! My dentist confirmed that no permanent damage had been done. Contacted Asda by phone and followed instructions. An investigation was promised. Returned product to branch and received refund. I stressed that I was not accepting this as a full and final settlement. After emails from Asda's HO promising an investigation, it transpires that the HO never received the faulty Interdental Brushes. They are blaming my local, Roehampton, store for not following procedure and offering me £20. Am I wrong to think that I should be given far more than this as compensation for being sold a potentially harmful product and for an investigation not being carried out. Asda HO are not taking responsibility for what is done by one of their stores? Is this acceptable?

So no real harm done, then? No actual losses .

    Yes you are wrong.

Why should you be paid "compensation" for that? Contact Trading Standards if others were put in "danger", but don't expect any monetary recompense for yourself as a result.

I can't see anything wrong here. Any investigation would have ensured faulty products did not reach the shelves. It would not result in more "compensation" for you. You've been offered £20, accept it.

Did you not notice when you got them out of the pack? I'd have thought bare wire would be spotted before they got anywhere near your gums.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

How much is 'far more'? Nothing happened they are not going to pay you £100s for what may 'potentially happened'. Take the £20 and leave Asda to deal with it.
