Hi all

I am looking to buy a strimmer and lawnmower for our new house. Wouldn’t really want to spend too much on it. I have seen 3 different strimmer/mower sets which are-

Can anyone recommend any of these? It’s for a very small front medium size back garden.

Would it be worthwhile waiting on end of summer sales or will they no0t get much cheaper than that? Couldn’t really afford any more than £100 at the moment.

Thanks

  • Can't help with those models, but we've got a Bosch which is doing sterling work, very pleased with it.

Do you need both strimmer and lawnmower now? We just bought a strimmer to start with, then when the lawn was a bit more under control, we bought the lawnmower.

Thanks firebird, I thought I cant go wrong with a known brand. I have tried just the strimmer in the past, but the grass always went brown with missing cut grass with the rake

I've been in the same situation, stuck using a tiny strimmer. I know everyone says it false economy to buy a cheap lawn mower but I just can't afford a really good one. From checking the price history, a lot of them seem to be on sale and much cheaper around the August bank holiday so I was holding out until then.

I've just found a Flymo chevron on Amazon warehouse which is used, but just has minor cosmetic marks. It was only £45 so I've went with that. It says it's suitable for small/medium sized gardens so maybe something like that would suit you. The reviews for it were very good.
  • As to £13 strimmers I'm on my third in less than 2 years.

The motors blow for some reason.

On mowers I've had a flymo for years. Cut the wire no end of times, re-connect and away it goes.
