Kindle's name on my network ---- SOLVED

Oblivion

I have an ASUS RT-AC68U router and whenever I connect a device, that device's name e.g 'Dave's Laptop', 'Mary's iPad, appears in the list of connected devices in the Asus management screen as it should.
When I connect either of our Kindle Paperwhites however, instead of coming up with 'Dave's Kindle' or 'Mary's Kindle' which is the device name in the Kindle menus and how they are registered at Amazon, they both come up with the device name 'Private'.
I've looked in the kindles' menus but can't find anywhere to change this so perhaps it is hard-wired into the firmware unless someone here knows differently?
UPDATE: Forget it, I've found the solution and I can't think why it didn't occur to me earlier. I've just discovered that the Asus router management screen allows me to change and assign any name to any connected device and remember it. I presume it stores it along with the MAC code. Sorted!

Mine as I just found out yesterday shows in my Router as N/A, but, with Amazon, it's Marthas Kindle.(OH) when I download books.?

Hi joe, thanks for the response. As you will see I have amended my OP having found a solution. Perhaps your router allows you to change the name of connected devices too.... Stick your mac address in here :- and see what you get back (It should be the manufacturer of your device)

Most kindles have mac addresses that are regiestered as private for some bizarre reason.
Your router is probly just trying to be clever in deducing the type of device0 -

I thought it was the source of my original problem, an intruder.

Thanks O, but, now I know that N/A is my Kindle, then I'm ok with that.

LOL. Yes, that's exactly what kicked this off for me. I saw 'Private' in my list of connected clients and went into panic mode thinking my network had been infiltrated. Phew, the relief when I realised it was only our Kindles.... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0
