O/S Daily Thread for Tuesday 2 August 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, wet underfoot and raining - looks set in for the day.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was chicken en croute for DH and DS1, when I opened the packet of Hunters Chicken to cook it it was quite obviously off and smelt awful, so that went in the bin, it was still in date, so have emailed the SM, so DS2 and myself had chicken breast each, luckily I've started buying cook from frozen chicken portions, so I have something to fall back on. We had new potatoes and veg with it. Tonight we'll be having beef casserole, mash and veg and LO's.

Work was a very busy day - the day passed so quickly, it was great, we'll see what today brings.

Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone.

Another lovely day ahead I think although this could be the final one of summer.

Yesterday I got my living room rugs washed and hung out early. They are thick white cotton so need a while to dry. Happily the sun shone for most of the day. I re-arranged the furniture again downstairs but am still not happy with the look so the table will have to go. It's a shame but I've tried!

My delivery came fairly late on and I spent some time sitting outside the front door reading a very trashy book in the sun. Very lazy though I had done a load of work in the morning.

Today I have no plans apart from doing a round of online banking.

Dumpling - congratulations again. There's a whole different world waiting for you now.

    Happy Tuesday everyone.

Morning, thank you nmlc for the thread X

dumpling - well done you for yesterday xx

I am off to the gym then into work at the charity for 9am. I have been super organised and made up a pot of melon and grapes, and a chicken salad for my lunch. The past few months I've been buying on the way to work from Sainsbobs - a really bad habit I need to break, not least because it's costing me more money.

Will wash gym kit later when I'm home, then do zone two cleaning (lounge, dining room, hallway). DH is following up on another possible job. Both the jobs he has on the go are via friends recommendations rather than recruitment consultants, who, given that they are paid on commission, have been worse than useless in his job search.

Hope you all have a great day
    Coxy

Sorry forgot to say to Lainey - hugs to you and your dear Mum. Bless her. Hope that the doctors can give some constructive advice today on what course of action to take xx

    Morning everyone,

Wet and grey here today, still the garden needed the rain and the grass is looking lush.

Didn't sleep well again, kept waking up and then my mind is whirring away. Work today and then will go to pick up Mum from my brothers to get her home ready for hospital phone call, will see how she feels afterwards and can come home with me if necessary. She might want company or she might want some time to herself.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Morning folks. Thanks NMLC for the start. It's a miserable start here - and to remain so much of the day - so we are taking a day off from trying to sort out the back garden! (Any excuse!) We were out there most of the day yesterday and made a good impression on all the triffids growing up and on the fence all the way along. The garden wheelie bin is full and the garden looks at least a foot and a half wider already!

In view of the dismal weather today we have decided to go to Boundary Mills and resume my search for something for the wedding next month. Surely I will find something there as it's such an enormous place. It's not my idea of fun trailing round clothes departments but needs must! I wonder how long it will be before the cafe calls me with the temptation of a coffee and cake?!

We are looking after DS's little dog all day tomorrow whilst they have a day in Scarborough. She's no bother and I love having her. And whilst we are on about breeds, she is a JUG (Jack Russell/Pug cross) and a little sweetie. The breeds they manage to come up with instead of Heinz!

Have a good day and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. LAINEY I'm glad your mum now has a diagnosis and a decision is being made on how to treat it. DUMPLING, once again, well done again. FLUTTERBY maybe today will be the day! Take care all xx

    Morning All

A bit overcast here, yesterday was such a beautiful day I didn't want to come inside. Sorted the garden, cut the grass and sat out in the sunshine for a while.

    Fantastic achievement dumpling.
Lainey - Hope something is sorted for your Mum soon, it's good she has a diagnosis.

Bottled the limoncello yesterday, just had a little taste and it is really quite good. I got 8 little bottles that will be put away for christmas pressies. Thanks HH for the recipe.

Not sure what I'm doing today, no washing and I've just done the ironing from yesterday. I may see if DD is painting in her flat and go and give her a hand. The house is clean and tidy, lovely not to have the messy budgie any more too.

Have a good day everyone. Take care. XX

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's very wet and miserable here this morning, the girls are still asleep and hubby has gone to work. He finally got official confirmation of his new job so he is very happy now. It has been 5 weeks since he had his interview which is a very long time to wait when you really want something. He starts his training today to be a test and inspector for his company where he works now making components for aircraft.

Thank you all so much for your lovely supportive comments. I really appreciate them. I did have a rubbish nights sleep though as a lot of old stuff had been stirred up in my mind. I guess I have to expect that though and just be kind to myself after each session.

DD13 cooked a stirfry last night and it was delicious. She is very good at cooking and enjoys helping me. I think I am going to cook fishfingers, fishcakes and chips with peas tonight.

Flutterby, I went 10 days overdue with DD16 and I would have happily ripped people's heads off when they kept commenting "Haven't you had that baby yet". It is hard when you are so looking forward to meeting your baby and the little beggars obviously too comfortable where they are. I am sending you lots of labour vibes xxx.

Lainey, hope your mum manages to stay comfortable and the cyst can be sorted out without too much fuss.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning all

    NMLC ,thanks for the thread.

Lainey, thinking of your mum today

Camelot, it is good isn't it, hic!

I had a bad night last night but someone is coming to collect some of my furniture today so I need to get it all lined up in the hall before they get here.

It's raining here today, so when I feed the cats later, I don't need to water the garden as well.

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, a soggy and rather dismal morning. Once I get to work, I don't have to go out so at least I shan't get any wetter than I shall be when I get there.

I've lost my motivation so if anyone finds it, may I have it back please?

Thank you for the thread nmlc, well done Dumpling and LaineyT I hope your mum's problem can be sorted out as easily as possible.

On the way home last night, I nipped into M*rrisons and bought 2 boneless belly pork joints for OH and DS to eat, reduced to £1.89 each, so they will be happy chaps. I can have something else. If I work late, I mostly cook for myself anyway as it isn't easy to predict when I'm likely to get back.

    Have a good day everyone.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Well yesterday was not a good day. OH rang me and was upset, so I downed tools and went in. The Drs have decided that he does not have vertigo, they have ordered a raft of tests. They wanted to do an MRI scan, but after I spoke to them they decided to do something different. He is allergic to the dye they use, last time he had an IVP he had a reaction and ended up in CCU.

I had to wait 2 1/2 hours for the Drs to see me, afraid I rather threw my toys out the Pram. They now understand that we need a diagnosis and its treatment before they shove him home. I just cannot go back to square one with him. I am too old and tired to cope all over again.

I am going in to see him this morning and then will not go again until Thursday. There are things here that need doing. Just now I am wondering if we will get to France next year. I really feel it is going to be too risky, not going to make a decision until the turn of the year.

We had badly needed rain last night but not enough, we need gentle rain for at least 24 hours for it to go any good. We have big cracks in the ground.

Time to get up and get on.

    Morning all,
Gey and wet here this morning went to the Hospice Day Care yesterday. Had an afternoon out at the Bexhill Museum. All the years that I have lived here I have never been. Very interesting. Then we went to the sea life cafe (The one that Keane wrote about). Had tea and cake!

DD is coming today to make me dinner. OH is back on Thursday. Seeing my neurologist about my compensation claim. Hope it gets going now.
Have a good day all. Xx
