Recently installed google Chrome and trying to set up the cookies options.
The options are:
1) allow local data to be set (recommended)
2) Keep local data only until you quit your browser
3) block sites from setting any data
4) block third-party cookies and site data
The guide suggests that:
1) allows both first and third party cookies
2) keeps first and third party cookies until quitting
3) blocks all cookies
4) allows only first party cookies
I have tried allowing just first party cookies by checking the 4th option.
However, I am unable to remove option 1.
Surely keeping both checked causes a conflict?
At present I have checked options 2 and 4.
When I go to a website it shows a cookie with a red cross through it and says
'this page was prevented from setting cookies'.
I don't understand this, if I am allowing cookies?
Can someone please explain how I set it to allow first party cookies only before I tear my hair out
Thanks

In settings - show advanced settings - privacy - content settings, is where you're at. In the dialogue box untick 'Block third party cookies and site data'. That's what's causing the broken icon. Then you can tick the first or second. Personally I have ticked 'Keep local data only until you quit your browser'.
That should be it.0 -
Thank you, I have now changed it to the second option0
