Cancellation fees

Hey!
Basically, I've booked a holiday, and the other party has decided to pull out.
All we have paid is the deposit so far, but it looks like I'm going to be stumped with £400 in cancellation fees.
It seems pretty steep. And as the lead Booker, I'm probably going to have to bare the brunt of this if the other party isn't going to cooperate.
Is this worth fighting with the travel operator over this? I understand it's not their fault, but £400 seems like a lot.
Or do I just accept my loss like and adult and learn from my expensive mistake in the future?

Is this a true package or flights+, who are the flights with? with LCCs they need to be paid in full as are non-refundable
If a true package a name change should be possible for a minimal fee
How soon is the holiday?0 -
You would need to show that the contract you willingly entered into is basically unfair.0

Have you booked a package and the full deposit was £200pp but you paid a low deposit of £100pp. If so then the people pulling out owe £100pp its not a cancellation fee its the rest of the deposit. Whatever the fee is to cancel the people pulling out owe it not you but if they refuse to pay then you'll have to because you're lead passenger. If it is a true package what about name changes. Can you give us more info?0
