This key combination originates in XP - Nothing to do with Windows 10.

I agree it originates from a while ago, and I'm pretty sure I saw it happen in XP, but I actually think it's a feature of the graphics drivers, not the OS.

I have one computer which doesn't do it, and is currently running Windows 10.

It's possible that Windows 10 has updated the OP's graphics drivers and therefore enabled it.

But most likely is that the OP has just never hit the offending key combination before.

Annoyingly missed the cut off date for free W10 by two days!!!! Any tips? I need an OS for my new build and currently using W10 trial.

You needed to upgrade from either Windows 7 or Windows 8. They didn't just give it away completely free.


By the sounds of it, you have neither of these given the fact you are running Windows 10 on a trial basis.....
