    Hi
thanks for your help everyone. Got to airport this morning and joined the vast queue. Told she had been rebooked for the 15th! She has a friend who works for a travel company in Perth. She spent hours today and got them on a Hong Kong to Heathrow then Heathrow to Manchester landing thurs morning. She asked Cathay for accomodation tonight and they initially refused, they said they only give one nights hotel stay. She insisted and got the hotel, transfers both ways and breakfasts. So hopefully arrives back just before 8am thursday, just 2 days later than planned

That's great news for them & you, you must be so pleased that it's only another couple of days before they're home and good for them for standing their ground on the hotel etc., the additional costs for 2 weeks in HKG would have been huge!

When my daughter arrived back after 10 months in Oz, she didn't even have enough money for her cab fare from the station (she arrived home a day earlier than she had told us so as to surprise us!).

That's good news. Sounds like pretty poor customer service from CX and might be worth a complaint to the CEO Ivan Chu when she gets back.

The business class lounges at HKG are great, we had a 6 hour layover at HKG earlier this year and 'lounge hopped' between the 3 or 4 we had eligibility for.

There isn't first class on LHR-MAN but possibly Club Europe, I've never flown BA domestically but if there is, it's nothing to get excited about, just a slightly larger seat and free fizz in that class,. Like Bogalot says, they should manage their expectations but I'll bet they don't care about a bigger seat & a glass of fizz, they'll be too excited to see their families.
