Health Insurance - Annual Premium Rises

Hi,
My wife and I are coming up to the end of our first year with PruHealth and have just received our renewal premiums for next year.
Disregarding the premium reductions available through PruHealth's Vitality scheme (we are at the 50% level), our base annual/monthly premium has been hiked by 12% (wife 9%, mine 12%, so they take mine....) for year 2.
We are both 31, excellent health, regular gym goers and no claims. Does this increase seem over the top?
I queried this rise with them - their response was that it is linked to various inflation indexes (presumaby Zimbabwe's).......or is it the vitality scheme just a con to mask annual rises?
I'd be interested to hear from anyone else's year-on-year rises (regardless of provider)!

My premium has gone up between 9-10% (I can't remember off the top of my head) and they are now going to screw me over with the new gym pricing structure (see my other post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=6690653&postcount=310)0

I've been recently looking for some links to my site and found that DirectLine has some great deals when you use one of the cashback sites. You can get back around £80 when you take insurance with them.0

I think my Pru has gone down, as I get a 2nd year reduction (??!!) Im not overly sure as my mum pays mine, yet is staying around the 35pcm mark. if it has one up its by a pound or two only.
Im a smoker, who WAS obese, now healthy to underweight ( do I call them and tell them how much weight Ive lost and see if they decrease premiums?!) I have pre-existing health conditions, so once Ive hit the 2 years I can claim for those. I dont think there is an alternative to Pru if you have pre-existing HCs TBH - bupa definately wont cover them, whereas Pru will after 2 years of paying th epolicy yhas elepased and I havent claimed on it in 2 years....
I expect once I claim for something the premiums will go up.... Im really not too sure....
Not muhc help am I:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
