Fridge Freezer gone wrong

First the freezer part of our fridge freezer stopped working - no real problem as we've got another freezer. Now the fridge part has stopped working. We are insured and the repair man is coming tomorrow, I've got a feeling (only) that he won't be able to do anything with it. It's about 11 years old and Hoover don't do anything like it now. It's not an American fridge but quite a bit wider that 60cm fridge and it also has a plumbed in water dispenser. They don't do plumbed in water dispensers anymore and the only one that I can find with a water dispenser is narrower than 60cm.
I've just had a look for the capacity and can only see 411 but not sure what that is.
The lady on the phone said if a new one is needed it'll either be the same or better than this one. I just can't see either lol.
What do you think I should do if it comes to a replacement being needed? This one is a replacement for the one we got first, it went wrong within a month and they replaced with a different one then.
Hope that makes sense.

411 (I presume L) is the capacity i.e how much the fridge holds.0

Thank you, I was hoping to find out what each is separately. I can find 180 and 190 mentioned but again doesn't say litres and I don't even know if it's anything to do with capacity!!!!!!! lol0

If you know the model number (or still have sticker on the machine itself somewhere with the model number), you should be able to get the manual online and check its capacity.
As for the replacement, I suppose it would depend on the terms of the insurance and what your coverage provides! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Thank you, there is a label where the salad drawer is that's where I found the 180 and 190. I'll have to have another look for the model number. The lady did say it covered a replacement if the old one wasn't repairable but to be honest I'd rather have the old one mended if poss as nothing on their website seems anywhere near the same.0

Read the terms of your cover - what does it say about repairing, replacing or refunding?
You may find if a repair isn't possible and a comparable replacement can't be found, a cash refund is possible (maybe not but doesn't hurt to check!).
All else fails perhaps get the replacement, sell it and then use the money towards one you like? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Thank you again. Well it's not repairable. The engineer is going to do a report tonight so hopefully I'll hear something soon - we don't have a copy of the policy as it was only taken out yesterday on the suggestion of the person I phoned. Probably done the wrong thing but get 10 days to change my mind and will only have to pay for the call out charge if I do.0

You might have to compromise a little on choice of replacement fridge freezer but remember that your old one was probably inefficient, and might not have been keeping things to a good low temperature if it was failing for a while. Size can be adjusted to. Have a look on their website, see which one you can most live with and if needs be, prepare to pay the difference in cost.
I actually bought an older model fridge freezer for £46 that had only had light use. It has a non plumbed water dispenser (they're not the pain you seem to think unless you drink gallons a day), is 70cm wide and is probably better than most of the new models I looked at. Unfortunately it doesn't have doors that allow you to stand milk in the door shelves but I can live with that until I can afford to buy the two door american fridge freezer I really want lol.0 -
Thank you deannatrois, I know I'm going to have to compromise and it looks like I'm going to have to do without a water dispenser as they only do one that has one and it's far too small (only 55cm wide). The current one is the same width as yours. Still waiting for them to get back to me lol!0

The insurance company have been in touch today and are replacing the fridge freezer on Wednesday. The fridge part is bigger and the freezer slightly smaller which is good. A+ class the old one was A. So they have come up trumps, no water dispenser but that's fine.0
