Unrecognised account on my credit report

Hi, need a little advice please.
I have been checking my credit report on Noddle and Clearscore for the last year or two and so far had no problems, however 2 months ago I noticed Anglian Water Services has popped up on my report out of nowhere - I live with my dad so I have no financial connection to them whatsoever - with a start date of 2005 (when I was 13).
This only shows on Noddle, not on Clearscore.
I filed a dispute against it but I received a letter saying there is nothing they can do about it basically.
What can I do? And does it even really matter? The only thing I can think of is that I have the exact same name as my dad, so could have something to do with it? Just a bit strange it hasn't appeared until now if that is the case.

Hi Tom222,
It does sound as though the fact that you and your dad have the same name is the culprit of the problem here. I would suggest you go directly to the credit reference agencies and ask them to correct this and make it crystal clear that you couldn't have been liable at 13 years old! They may ask for some proof, but hopefully, it will be dealt with in a sensible fashion and just as the simple misunderstanding it appears to be.
As far as the water board is concerned you could complain about the way they have handled this matter. Explain that there is no reason for them to suddenly 'switch' which file they are reporting on and that they can amend incorrect data - which is what this is. You may only get an apology but it is up to you how far you are willing to take it. The most important thing is getting the information on your file corrected and keeping an eye on problems like this in the future, good luck,
