Smart meter switch BG to Sainsburys energy
Hi,
I've been flying the MSE flag and trying to get my parents-in-law to switch suppliers.
If they go from British Gas to Sainsburys energy as its the same company will the smart meter (fitted over a year ago) still work? anyone had experience?
I know its a stupid problem and I would just take the readings every month to save £170 per year but I did say it'd be like nothing changed except they were paying someone else. F-I-L is particularly grumpy when it comes to change!

p.s. theres cheaper switches to npower and Scottish power, if anyone knows if they can now use a BG smart meter that'd help too

My smart meter worked fine switching from BG to Sainsburys and also when I went back to BG on a Collective Fix. The reads were all taken automatically when ever they needed them. However my IHD monitor is not giving me the correct details now because it is saying I am on standard tariff.Maybe this is because I am on a collective cheap tariff.I dont use the smart monitor at all so this does not concern me .BG are billing me on the correct cheap collective tariff so that is all I am concerned about.
I am now switching back again to Sainsburys Energy once again, exit free (its just gone through ) on another very good 2 year fix, maybe I will plug the monitor back in to see if the monitor is correct on tariff again0
