Paid but still received PCN

My daughter parked at the Peel Centre, Stockport and paid to park and input her registration number. 3 weeks later she has received a PCN from Excel Parking. Obviously she no longer has the parking ticket and can only assume that she input the registration slightly wrong. Does anyone know if these companies keep records of the registration details that people input into the machines?

She is caught in the pcn game now.
She needs to now familiarise herself with the game by reading and following the advice in the newbies faq thread near the top of the forum0 -
As advised above, please read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES then send the IPC template letter to Excel. Copy and paste, no editing.
Do not pay, do not ignore, do not reveal who was driving.
In future, keep parking tickets as proof of purchase as you would do for any other receipt of goods or service.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Yes and Excel are meant to do checks, as they told the BBC (so it must be true then!):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/4jKcc6g2sd9rqR9sFZKCBjQ/private-parking
Quote that article at them and their own words:
''However, we do recognise that motorists may input an incorrect digit(s) of their VR number when purchasing a P&D ticket and as such our processing allows for a manual review/quality check of PCN’s before they are issued.''PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
