Hi if a standing order is due to be paid on the first of every month ie today, should it be in my bank now? Panicking as need it cleared so direct debuts don't bounce .... Any chance it could turn up during the day? Thanks

Depends on the bank I suppose. In my experience both TSB and Natwest do Standing Orders a few seconds after midnight. But sometimes it's a bit late if the night shift is eating donuts and drinking coffee

But just because it's sent doesn't mean it's been received or when it will be available in the receiving bank account.0 -
When the Faster Payments scheme introduced Stand Order processing the requirement was that under normal circumstances the payments had to be sent in the early hours of the morning when the system was least busy with other types of payment. I'd be surprised if there has been any change to that subsequently.0
