I'm a Tesco mobile customer and their base packages don't really offer enough data for a digital dilettante, never mind a digital 'native'. They do make it affordable enough to purchase more data, however, we pay £10/month for a sim only tariff with 1.25GB? (1GB + some sort of friends and family bonus).0 -
I read your post as an example of why you should have paid into the pension. Not whyyou shouldnt.
10 months wasted rent saved - £5000!
But you would have been paying a mortgage instead and over 25/30 years, that isnt an issue. You missed out on £2400 of employer contributions which over 30 years would turn into a figure closer to £20,000
And if you couldnt afford to save for the house deposit and pay into the pension then that is a worrying sign when interest rates eventually return to normal long term averages.
My mortgage is less than my rent was!
The house price will also rise in value over the years.
I could have afforded to save for a house and pay into a pension - just choose not to pay into a pension for a few years, to purchase the house quicker.
In that 10 months, the house prices probably rose near 5%, so buying it 10 months quicker, saved £5k that way too!
Given the housing market at the time, I know I made the right decision
I have been paying into a pension since I was 21, so taking a fews year break isn't going to make a difference in the long term.0 -

I'm never away from a wifi point long enough to use much mobile data, and computers are at hand pretty much 24/7, so never use more than a couple of hundred meg of mobile data......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

You must be a townie.
I cant get a good signal from my carrier unless i stand near a window- we still have a landline lol.
I use a PAYG 3 sim card when on the mainland, and sometimes cant get a signal on that.0 -
