How to supplement Third party Fire and Theft

My daughter is starting a new job and gets a car which is only covered by third party fire and theft
How can we ensure that she is fully comprehensive in the event of an accident and which companies do this as an add-on

    You can't.

Are the employer looking to pass on all claims for Accidental Damage to the car to your daughter or just the claims that they deem her to be negligent

Its not her car, why does she care how they insure it?

Presumably the employer is looking to hold the daughter liable for damage done to the car while she's using it.

Personally I wouldn't accept that as a condition of employment - but then I'm lucky enough to be in a position to be a little bit choosy about such things.

Of course, if they're not looking to pass the costs of any damage onto her then you're right - it's not her problem.

i think im more concerned about the possibility of her being injured and off work - im hoping theyre not looking to make her liable for damage

Car insurance doesn't cover injury compensation/loss of wages.

You sue the liable third party if you suffer uninsured losses like this.

She needs to check her contract/company car drivers agreement to see if there is any way the company car driver has any responsibility for any damage to the company car

That won't be covered by car insurance - a few comprehensive policies do include a personal injury element, but it usually just pays out a very small sum and only for very serious injuries.

As above if the accident is someone else's fault she can claim compensation from the at fault party or his insurers - and that isn't affected by her own insurance status. If the accident is her own fault - or nobody's fault in particular - then no car insurance policy will provide adequate protection.

If that's a worry then what she needs is some sort of income protection policy, which will pay out for any accident or injury which prevents her working - not just car related ones. There are two main types: Accident, Sickness and Unemployment insurance which will pay (most of) her income for a maximum of 1 or 2 years, or Permanent Health Insurance, which is more expensive but will keep paying indefinitely if she's off work long term. It's worth her considering these options whether or not she has a driving job. For most people their lifetime earnings potential is the single most valuable thing that they will ever own, but many people seem more keen to insure their mobile phones than their income.
