Debt-free and Proud!
Hi everyone,

Currently, me and hubby have a car each, both get us back and forth to work and we use mine (it's a bluemotion polo so does loads better MPG than his) when we visit family as they are between 100-200 miles away at a time.

We are looking to move in September and I will be a lovely 3 miles from work which, I'm hoping, will mean that we can get rid of a car as I can either walk to work on a nice day, or get the bus or get a lift with a colleague as there are plently close by. Both of our cars are on PCP and mine is at the point where I can 'give it back' in October. We have our insurance via a multicar policy which is due to expire in September and my main q is, will I be able to get insurnace for just one month? Is it a case of getting it as is, then cancelling my part after i've given the car back or would I need to do seperate policies?

I'm aware that hubby's car will start doing more miles and we will need to up the milage with Seat and the insurance for his but hoping that it will still cut a lot of cost out for us as mine is costing £400 in PCP payment and fuel a month.

Thanks in advance!
Love Piggy-banking and YNAB!

You will be able to get one month's insurance but will have to do it by buying a years policy then cancelling.

Or buying a month's temp cover - though that would be more expensive (though the catch of the "cheaper" option is that should there be any claim during the month on cover then you would have to pay for the full year)

When you cancel a multicar policy leaving just one car on cover that may mean an increase in the remaining cars premium - so it may be cheaper to take out 2 separate policies
