Benefits of shared ownership

  • Hi hope some amazing people could help.
My partner and I purchased 30 per cent of a shared ownership property and completed 6 May this year. The whole house cost 315k and as such our share was 95k.
Our solicitors we thought had sorted the land registry and sdlt . We have a form that we signed stating that there would be no sdlt to pay as we were exempt. I looked into it and agreed that as it was under the threshold then we were. This suited us and moved. I received an email from our solicitors saying that sdlt would have to be paid and there is a shiny new bill for 568 pounds. I don't know where we stand in relation to this as I feel that 1 we were not informed at any point sdlt was payable. 2 we have signed saying that we were under the threshold and that it would be paid for by the solicitors. 3 our solicitor Bill stated things that led us to believe that this was taken care of.
    Hope someone can help.

I don't know where we stand in relation to this .
you stand on whatever you signed at the time

if you did not understand the difference between a market value election and the payment instalments options then you only have your own lack of research to blame
