Unpaid Leave benefits?

Hello all!
I work for a tourism company that has loads of paid work to do during summer periods but when winter comes, more than half of the employees are asked to take unpaid leave between 1-3 months. However, it is specified in our contract that due to operational requirements we might be asked to take up to three months unpaid leave. My question is, are we entitled to get something for this unpaid leave period?
Thank you in advance for all the answers!

Are you entitled to a statutory guarantee payment as part of your contract?
Have a read of this:

If you are not entitled to a statutory guarantee payment then you might be able to claim Job Seeker's Allowance.
Bit of a complicated one so suggest that you take your contract to CAB and ask them to look through it and/or give ACAS a call.
Are you a member of a union?
Also post this on the Employment forum as there may be more people with knowledge about this as regards this type of contract.0 -
You could always take another job over the period; you might even find it's a better one!0
