I have just had a replacement partial knee
Do I have to inform Aviva (my insurers) of this fact
DVLA do NOT need to be informed
As far as I am aware - you would not have to inform your insurance company if you broke your leg and had to wait for 2 months before driving again - what's the difference ?
Is there a list on-line of notifiable problems ?

If DVLA don't want to know then you don't have to tell your (motor) insurer

    General rule of thumb:

If you have to ask whether or not to inform them, do so. They can always say "thanks, but we don't need to know"

    No!!

    General rule of thumb:

Don't ever volunteer anything that could be detrimental to you to an insurer

    Only answer their specific questions!

Thanks - but when they ask "Is there anything that may affect your driving that you haven't told us......?"
Is that not a get out clause ?

    Which company asked you that?

Insurers must be specific, not leave it to the customer to work out what is and isn't material.

I know where you are coming from. I once had the same concern following a few health issues some years ago.

I wrote to my (then) insurance company listing my (then) health problems.

I got a letter back making no request for further information but advising me that if I was concerned then I should let the DVLA know and see what they said.
I left it at that and did not hear any more about it.
Thanks - DVLA specifically do.not require informing of knee replacements !
