My daughter is trying to download the app from Google Play, but when she tries to install she is getting the message

No eligible devices for app install.

Any ideas how to fix - seems a bit weird Google device on Google play

Thanks

Not all apps will install on all Android devices. Some are limited to phones only for example. It appears this one is not specified to be installed on a 10" tablet. The only way around it would be to get the APK from another source and sideload it.

Pokemon Go requires data when your out hunting pokemon so it would be worthless on a tablet without mobile data. It is designed for use on mobile phones.

Yup p-go will only install on phones, not tablets,

If it's rooted then you might be amble to trick it into installing but it's not worth the hassle

    - This app is free-to-play and offers in-game purchases. It is optimized for smartphones, not tablets.
    - Compatible with Android devices that have 2GB RAM or more and have Android Version 4.4 - 6.0 installed.
    - Compatibility is not guaranteed for devices without GPS capabilities or devices that are connected only to Wi-Fi networks
    - Compatibility with tablet devices is not guaranteed.
    - Application may not run on certain devices even if they have compatible OS versions installed.
    - It is recommended to play while connected to a network in order to obtain accurate location information.
    - Compatibility information may be changed at any time.
    - Please visit https://www.PokemonGO.com for additional compatibility information.
    - Information current as of July 5, 2016

Some tablets have mobile data and a sim built in, also you could tether a tablet to say a parents phone if they have a lot of data allowance (and tethering is allowed by the provider). I suppose you could also wifi zone 'hop' not very practical but BT wifi is almost everywhere so possible if your with them..

Anyway it wouldn't load on my daughters phone, same messages on play. I just got hold of the APK (install) file and installed it directly, works OK.

But... this carries risk of installing an infected version so not for the faint hearted!

On a side note about this app, on some Android devices you may get messages on Pokemon Go about cannot get a location (assuming you have location service switched on). The most common cause is because 'allow mock locations' is on by default in developer option, you just need to switch that setting off.

Be thankful ... your daughter can now avoid getting drawn into a completely stupid, pointless game. :D

Don't just hunt for and install an EPK, plenty of reports of malware baked in, and Android malware could easily do some nasty things, which is why the default is not to allow side-loading

    installed a "GPS spoofing app"

Now i can sit in my living room while my p-go avatar wanders the neighbourhood.

Pokemon Go, an advertisers wet dream. I wonder how many Pokemons appear by the local Mcdonalds, Costa (lotta) Coffee or Toys-r-us ?
