Transformers usually have some form of overheat protection. This causes them to trip when they get to hot. They come back on when they have cooled. If you can check that they are not covered by insulation etc.If they are starting to go on and off they will get worse and eventually need replacing.

    Thanks Robby
We did ensure there was no insulation around the bulbs.
What do we replace the bulbs or transformers?

check for insulation around transformers as well.If they are in a roof space lift them off the insulation, put them on a board or something. If they are going on and off the problem is not the lamps(bulbs)as they either work or they dont.It is most likely the transformers changing them is simple enough.

We had to get firehoods put behind some downlighters put in our bathroom. To cut a long story short the electrian we used were pants and most of the electrics needed redoing. This including the fitting of these firehoods as it had completly escaped them.

MOH tells me you will invalid date your household insurance if you don't fit them as your ceiling fire rating will have been altered.

With regards to the bulbs blowing I couldnt tell you the first thing about transformers! All I know everytime we've had new downlights fitted, they have all blown within the first week. After that the replacement ones have been fine.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:
