Unplanned fees charges

Options
Hi just wanted to double check something as the customer service i spoke to at Yorkshire bank were not sure. Can daily unplanned charges be applied to a balance that was solely put into overdrawn by the banks own unplanned fee charge?.They put a charge on the 27th which took me overdrawn from a good position but can't pay til the 9th.Will they charge me from 27th to 9th for being over as they created that position? Guy at Yorkshire said over is over no matter if you weren't overdrawn before we put the charge on.

When you say 'unplanned fee' do you mean that the fee wasn't planned (i.e. unexpected) or a legitimate charge for going into an unauthorised overdraft? If the latter was charged because you did go into an unauthorised overdraft then I can't see that you have a leg to stand on, but if there was no inkling that there was any likelihood of a charge that might be different....

Yup it's added to your balance and if still overdrawn it will still attract charges. The main reason I run like hell from an account which doesn't have a planned/authorised overdraft limit. It's charges upon charges. If the charges are causing financial hardship you could claim them back. Some banks have an overall maximum monthly charge.

If they are charging on charges it would suggest to me that you never put monies into the account?
    Is this the case?

If so they won't want you as a customer for much longer.

Thanks, got a current account plus but no overdraft.
Last month paid out a few things i thought i still had money for but online banking had put some amounts spent back in the next day it seems so i took it over when it re-adjusted itself.
Accrued 2 weeks of daily charges which they added on the 27th June added to my own over amount.Only got up to date 9th of this month as had to withdraw money as it's live on money (on universal credit last couple of months ,previously a working customer for years).
Got another 2 weeks daily fees as fair enough part of that balance was still mine.27th of this month added that 2 weeks unplanned usage fee again but this time my account was just in credit so i'm over again and can again clear on the 9th.
Was hoping to break the cycle ,pay the final charges on the 9th then that'd be the end of it, lesson learnt as i didn't think they could charge me the £6 fees again if this time they created that overdrawn position.
Never asked them for anything before so could see if they'd help this once if i need to.

If you're hoping to break the cycle, a good place to start would be to stop making an arbitrary but false distinction between 'your' debt and 'theirs' ("charges [...] added to my own over amount", "part of that balance was still mine")!

To be clear: they didn't create the overdrawn position, you did, by spending money you didn't have, even if the consequent charges were applied to the account on a date you apparently weren't expecting to see them (when were you anticipating these hitting your account? What did your statements say?).
