I am a uni student in halls so i am looking for a VOIP soloution for me. Firstly i am in halls and all i need is something that allows incoming calls on a local number. I already have a sipgate account with a 01524 number.
1) I need a phone or headset that i can plug directly into my desktop cheap as possible but not something cheap and nasty!
2) Should i use a service like the tesco VOIP and get a free incoming number that way?
3) With sipgate would it be possible to use a Bluetooth headset? has anyone tried this?
4) Is the sipgate number classed as a normal number by BT?
hope you can help?
ps i know my pc would have to be on to receive my calls my budget is about 25 quid!

Have you checked that your Uni allow it first. I think a lot block it because it uses a lot of bandwidth. I'm hoping mine do but I'm waiting till I get there before I buy anything.
With Sipgate I think it is possible to have them as an incoming service and set a different outgoing service such as Tesco. I'm not sure on all the details of setting it up but you should be able to find out how on the internet somewhere.0 -
