Solar should be effective and cheap to run, but I don't know what the upfront cost would be like. Or could it be heated with an air-source heat pump using cheap Economy 7 electricity overnight? It should, do hold the heat pretty well through most of the day if it's a decent sized pool.

I don't know how you'd stop the windows steaming up though, other than some quite expensive A/C kit.

What's the reason behind this thread?
Have you got a swimming pool that's costing too much to rub, are you planning a new pool? And building?
Swimming pool design and construction is fairly specialist, and heating loads are dependent on the size of pool, orientation, amount of glazing around it etc
Yes there are ways to make it cheaper to heat and to stop windows steaming up but impossible to say in this case how to do it

If there's a decent cover on the pool, the windows (assuming double glazed) should not steam up. If I leave the cover off overnight, then we get awful condensation. Consider also keeping a window ajar for some ventilation.

I've heard a rough guideline for solar heating for a pool is about 75% of the pool's surface area.. so perhaps the more solar panels (of whatever kind) you can incorporate, the better. Ours has a few panels and the water temperature is high 20s at the moment. For "free". No experience of winter yet.
