Tenancy Liability Insurance?

Me and my partner are about to rent a flat for the first time and have been asked to get 'Tenancy Liability Insurance'.
Can anyone tell me if this is a legal requirement, the difference between this and public liability insurance, whether that is what the deposit is for, doesn't landlord insurance also cover that, and basically whether I need to get it or not.
We will be getting contents insurance but just didn't know about this one.

Let me guess, the letting agency involved sells this type of insurance.
No you don't need it. You don't even need to get contents insurance to cover your own contents if don't want to (although depending on the value of your contents it might be worthwhile but still SFA to do with the letting agency).0
