My dealers warranty with bmw is due to expire. Is there any other moneysaving option other than getting the warranty through the dealer? Ok this is probably a stupid question, but I need to check before I shell out.

Probably all manufacturers allow to extend warranty after initial 3 years. Could you get that from BMW? If yes, that would be best.

There are some 3rd party warranties like Warranty Direct but they are bit notorious for not providing any support when your car breaks down actually!

Other than this you don't seem have much option for aftermarket warranties.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
