Thought I'd swing by to tell the good news; I've been offered a job!!
It's my dream company to work for and in a role I've wanted to move into for years. The only slight downside is that they wanted me to take a 2k pay cut for the first 6 months and then to go up to what I'm on at the moment. I pushed back and said I'm very reluctant to take a cut (particularly with this debt hanging over me).
But anyway, good news that I'm delighted to share with you all.0 -
congratulations SpeckySquarehead! Well done on being assertive over salary as well!
Quick list for me as am trying not to be online too much!
So far:
* went to the lottie for a couple of hours before oh went to work - honestly when I can drag myself out of bed early it's the best time to go, get so much done and it's so peaceful
* foraged 300gms blackberries to make a cake
* harvested runner bean, french bean, 1 patty pan, 3 beetroots and 400gms tomatoes from the garden
* tied up tomatoes
* did crazy 15 mins in the garden weeding the pathway and got it finished
* all meals from stores
* checked one bank account
* applied for, and was accepted, for a balance transfer for our stoozing card. This will be the last time we will need to do a BT for this. Got the card several years ago (4 maybe 5) with 0% on spending. Spent on day to day expenses, transferred the money from joint account into a savings account and set up dd. Since we have been earning between £8-15 pm on it
Still do do:
* mechanic coming to look at my car shortly
* hang out washing
* Sweep garden
* turn composter
* sow mixed lettuce seeds - ever optimistic!
* make blackberry & apple loaf
* walk down to the villiage shop and get bread and milk
* stop at library and return books and get more
* vacuum and polish downstairs & clean bathroom sink and toilet
* make spag bol, warm beetroot salad & garlic bread for friends coming for dinner tonight
Ok that's me! Hope everyone has the sun in their hearts if not on their skin! xDF as at 30/12/16

Am not at work today but still up early ish. Lovely family 4 day weekend, but need to keep an eye on spends so we'll be doing lots of free things, today it will be the library for stage 2 of the big read. Monday might be stage 3 :rotfl: Have tons of annoying jobs on my list around the house, going to see how many I can get done too.
Ziggy I do hope your back is better that sounds painful
My list:
Collect one pre ordered book from library to save extra trip
Washing out on line that didn't dry on airer yesterday after I had to bring it in after it started raining
Check banking, surveys and FPL
Have adjusted a DD to a credit card and paid the difference to other - just my own happiness will mean that one will now get paid off much quicker and the other one will still before the0% ends, just not both at the same time. Meaning by middle of next year I'll be down to one debt. It is definitely the small things
Meals from stores, cooked extra rice when I made jalfezi last night so we can have egg fried rice tonight
Quick clean around
Post parcel to foxgloves
List at least 3 things on fleabay - must stop deferring this
Think that's about all, check back later. PF.
Done my list. Got 4 things on fleabay and just spied another that can go on. Got an 1kea welcome pack through the post and watched a film and it gave me the option of 3 free things when next in store. Chose a photo frame.
WM cleaned overnight after I'd cleaned drawer and seal last night. Put the integrated door back on after being awol for about 9 months. One of my annoying job :rotfl:
Left over jalfrezi for lunch, DH had hm soup. Read a blog and they had a recipe for rhubarb and strawberry muffins. Will make this afternoon.
Did a few surveys. Afternoon snuggles watching a film with the smalls
Called bank and cheekily asked if we could have the new rate that was published this week as its 0.15% cheaper than current deal on table which is already 1.5% less than we were paying. They said yes subject to a short call on Thursday :T fingers crossed
Do a bit of reading on reclaiming credit card protection, see if it's straightforward.0 -
Afternoon all
Thanks for starting the thread PF
Frustrating day today - we had intended to go out, and then things started to go wrongDiscovered pup with the remains of a note from a delivery firm about a parcel I am waiting for - didn't hear him knock (if he did) and pup had shredded the card he had left. Pieced some of it together to try to get an update on their web site, waited in for a couple of hours to see if it would be delivered - it wasn't
Then it poured down with rain
OH decided he needed lunch at 11.30 am instead of when we went out :eek:
Decided not to bother to go out, except to the post office and Sainsburys....traffic was silly in our miniscule town centre (only drive due to big parcels to post, I usually walk).
Two people serving in post office, with 2 customers with very lengthy and complicated transactions (half an hour, no less) .... a poor lady with 2 screaming babies behind me, then a couple of drunks wandered in, to complete the experience.... Decided that this series of woes was actually very funny and imagined the sitcom I would write if I had talent /connections in that area :rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway:
Sold, packed and posted 3 ebay items :T
Made a big pot of chilli, using up all manner of things from the fridge and freezer
Made a big pot of courgette and blue cheese soup, as a courgette mountain is developing :eek:
Cleaned bathroom
Did the shopping at Mr S - £26 spent, and if I haven't got it now, it can wait till next week!!!
Still to do:
Pick and freeze French beans
See if anything needs watering , unlikely after the tremendous downpour we had earlier
Check banks
Hopefully tomorrow will go to plan!
Foxgloves, when you said that your post had been eaten, I thought that your cat had done the same as my dog :rotfl::rotfl:
Legomum, I am impressed by your list!
Ziggy, hope your back is better soon
Speky, congrats on the job :T
Love to everyone else0 -
