Friday 29th July - what small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Happy Friday people :hello:

Am not at work today but still up early ish. Lovely family 4 day weekend, but need to keep an eye on spends so we'll be doing lots of free things, today it will be the library for stage 2 of the big read. Monday might be stage 3 :rotfl: Have tons of annoying jobs on my list around the house, going to see how many I can get done too.

Ziggy I do hope your back is better that sounds painful

    My list:
Collect one pre ordered book from library to save extra trip
Washing out on line that didn't dry on airer yesterday after I had to bring it in after it started raining
    Check banking, surveys and FPL
Have adjusted a DD to a credit card and paid the difference to other - just my own happiness will mean that one will now get paid off much quicker and the other one will still before the0% ends, just not both at the same time. Meaning by middle of next year I'll be down to one debt. It is definitely the small things ;)
Meals from stores, cooked extra rice when I made jalfezi last night so we can have egg fried rice tonight
    Quick clean around
    Post parcel to foxgloves :D
List at least 3 things on fleabay - must stop deferring this :o

Think that's about all, check back later. PF.

    Photogenic Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning all,

    Managed to get through my list from yesterday however I doubt I can say the same for today however I’m trying to force a habit of;

1 – posting here each morning
    2 – getting organised
    3 – practise being MSE

    So although my list is short, it serves a purpose;
    Check banks and YNAB
    Check free post code lottery
Bring lunch and snacks to work
    Hopefully exercise (doubtful)
Spend as little as possible tonight at the cabaret show

    Have a great day everyone.

Well - after having worked out the bills yesterday - we are rookit / skint / poor (delete as appropriate)
For a month - but at least I know the truth
No idea how we managed this but what's done is done

Anyway, DH is off today so will be enjoying his company (when he gets up). He managed to hurt his back yesterday & is now on tramadol so he might be having a dozy day (not caught up on yesterday's thread but sympathies are with Ziggy if she's the same)

    So today's plan:-
    • NSD
    • All meals from stores
    • Pay bills
    • Fix camera (really need to do this)
    • Try & de-smell my car as DH will be using it for work next week
    • Brother in law has invited us up to "steak night" at a restaurant he goes to every week - will see how DH is before we decide if we can go
    • Shred stuff if DH falls asleed with the pills
    • Deep clean en-suite

All has to be quiet stuff as DH is still asleep & I have a feeling he will be for most of the day thanks to the pills
    Have a good day y'all

Hello again. Attempt no. 2 at posting as attempt no. 1 was eaten.
Productive morning so far. Here are today's money saving bits:
*2 baths from 1 lot of hot water.
*Entered the 4 competitions I did yesterday plus an extra one I found on the Sainsbury's magazine website.
*Cleaned house using minimal products & washable microfibre cloths. Only upstairs to vacuum, but mr f will take the Dyson upstairs later as I am trying not to make my dodgy arm worse. It is just slightly better so trying not to lift heavy items to set it back again.
*Finish meal plans, inc. for guests, & shopping list. I ran out of steam on this yesterday as had a banging headache by mid-afternoon (it's gone now - yay! Ziggy, glad yours has too!)
*Took fish out of freezer for dinner. mr f's cooking night so that's all I need to do. This is a classic example of how being organised saves us money. Back in the Spendy Years (decades), not taking dinner out of the freezer on a Friday (any) night would be a sure recipe for getting a take-away.
*Water & feed veggie garden (not done yet but will do it before lunch)
*Check sweetcorn bed. Noticed last night that the middle row had flopped over (weird) for no reason that we could see, so we put some emergency supports in. Never grown sweetcorn before & we are ridiculously excited by the fact that it will soon be as tall as me!)
*Decide what to do with beetroot. Didn't grow much this year. Ate lots of it in a salad last night. Will see if there's enough to pickle a small jar or whether to eat it fresh. mr f can't stand it. I love it so all the more for me!
*2 manky limes in fruit basket. Was going to put in compost bin then decided to cut them in half to see what they were like inside & they were absolutely fine so have juiced them & frozen the juice. I often need juice of a lime for salsa or whatever, so that will save me having to buy next time.
*Do Avon order. I don't have something every time, but have spotted a couple of very good offers.
*Tiny bit of free fitness walking to postbox to post letter, loan contract & competitions.
*Check what foods nephews don't like to avoid waste then they visit. I don't pander to fussy eaters & I certainly don't cook separate things for kids so I have a system which I've implemented since they were tiny. I ask them before they arrive to let me know the 3 foods they would least like to find on their plates. I then promise to avoid those foods but they know I expect them to eat everything else.
*Use-it-up.....2 lipsticks currently being finished up properly by using a lipbrush. I can't throw a lippy away now while there is still a third of the product left. I've paid for all of it, so I shall use all of it.
*Cut more big clear plastic bottles down to make mini-cloches for next season's baby veggie plants.
*Had a conversation with mr f about holidays next year. I know he'd like to book a cottage in Cornwall & so would I, but I've talked him round to just having 2 camping trips while we see how we get on with budgeting for the loan repayments. Haven't ruled anything out, will still put monthly money away in the Holiday Savings Piggy, but I am not committing us to anything just yet. He was ok with that as he has a big birthday the following year & thinks having a cheap tenty year (we both love camping) will help us save for going somewhere special (in UK) for that. Always better for money saving when both people are on the same page!)
OK, I've finished my cafetiere, so will crack on.
Love to all........PurpleFairy - I will tell cat to look out for the postman, lol x
    F xx
