Shared Ownership/Help to Buy

We're looking into the various Help to Buy schemes and actually think shared ownership might be the one for us. Can we get the Shared Ownership scheme for a house we've found on the open market, or is it exclusively for ex-housing association houses?
May seem like a stupid question but in all my research I haven't been able to get a straight answer on this!

From the HTB website:
"With Help to Buy: Shared Ownership you can buy a newly built home or an existing one through resale programmes from housing associations"
In other words no it's not available on any/every property on the market and shared ownership properties are not ex-HA properties they are current HA properties and remain so until you can staircase to 100%.
